Hi everyone, after a long and needed pause, it's good to be back to Stav curation. I'm @luana_lmartinez and today I brought the amazing work of Eric Mencher (@ericmencher). Eric believes that almost anything can become an interesting photograph. A former photojournalist for The Philadelphia Inquirer, he spent decades documenting world events, from post-apartheid South Africa and Rwanda to Cuba and Chechnya, while also photographing everyday life, arts, sports and culture. Today, he works exclusively with an iPhone, embracing its freedom and simplicity.
What draws me to Eric's work is the quiet balance between observation and composition. His photographs never seem to chase extraordinary moments. Instead, they reveal how light, shadow, gesture and space can transform ordinary scenes into images full of presence. I was especially captivated by his beautiful use of black and white, rich contrasts and graphic simplicity, where every frame invites us to slow down and look a little longer.
