A few months ago I signed up to volunteer at my local senior center @heightsandhills thinking I could help serve meals to seniors. Instead, they asked me if I had any creative skills that I could teach in a group setting. Since editing isn’t the most senior-friendly activity, I pitched this autobio cartooning workshop! I am totally self-taught in this department and was super nervous to “teach” something I am still learning to do myself, but I thought what the heck, maybe we can learn together. I used Lynda Barry’s brilliant book “How to Make Comics” as my main template and took it from there. I can’t tell you how much fun I had working with these vibrant, hilarious seniors on their one-page comics. I learned SO much!!! Can’t wait to do it again.
