I left Mexico 25 yrs ago. I was only 12 when I moved to this country, but the culture remains engraved in my heart and soul.

I spent the last 8 days in my home town and I took sometime to fulfill my dream of seeing myself and my kids embracing my roots.

Every time I see someone dressed as escaramuza, charro or dancing folkloriko, I feel chills down my spine. It was my dream to do any of those things as a little girl.

After so many years, I’m stuck somewhere between not being American enough here and not Mexican enough there.

But I love, respect and appreciate both countries for different reasons. Mexico made me and shaped me, and the USA has offered opportunities that could only become possible here.

But that little small town girl, takes the Mexican pride wherever she goes 🌵

If you’re in Los Altos, she’s your girl. AND, just because she’s THAT girl… she also travels to the USA for work. I came across her work because she did my nephew’s wedding last year here in the IE and her work, talent and creative eye are immaculate. 📸
