So many people followed my adoption of Roscoe in 2019, I thought you all deserve to see how it ended. I adopted Roscoe when I was in an emotional tailspin. I was feeling really low and found a dog that was 7 years old and “unadoptable” and was nearing the end of his allotted time at the shelter. I went to meet him twice because I was so unsure and each time he peed on me and showed me no love🤣 He was malnourished, heart worm positive, and had a double ear infection. We both seemed to be in transition that year, and I took a leap so we could make that transition together. He had deep traumas that would often result in fights with other dogs and bites for humans. He was aggressive and then sweet like a sour patch kid, always staring at you with apologetic eyes. His eyes were his super power.
Today, after 7 years living with
@oooray01 and I, he crossed the rainbow bridge, lashing out at the vet and vet tech until the last minute. He was a fighter for sure.
I’m proud of myself for making it here to be honest and simultaneously embarrassed I couldn’t solve more of his problems before it was too late.
These pictures of me holding him and petting him were before it got bad enough that we had to stop doing such things with him. He doubled his weight from 2019 and you can see his fat joy in more recent photos. So many lessons I’ve learned. ♥️
Special thank you to Utopia Animal Hospital, truly the best people I’ve ever met. And to @oooray01 who took on so much of the burden that these later years had in store, often with a smile and some baby talk.
