Organizers and teachers from
@escuelitasonbuhi and
@atl.are joined our compas at XITO in Tucson to dive into decolonial ethnic studies teaching using XITO’s TIAHUI and
@liberated_ethnic_studies models.
Escuelitas and ATL ARE organizer
@buhi_educator gave a workshop to discuss the ethnic studies of the Global U.S. South framework that guides his own and the Escuelitas teaching model. He also modeled
@teach_change’s Teaching Central America’s lessons and resources to build solidarity with Central Americans and the Central American studies movement. Escuelitas organizer
@hopeless_ro.mantic shared about their EscueliTaxi transportation network for our neighbors that embodies the ethos of mutual aid and community support behind Escuelitas.
The ATL ARE crew got to meet with our compas from
@raza_educators_la chapter to share wisdom and grow our LA-ATL connection. We are developing ourselves as ethnic studies educators, organizers, and we are building solidarity across the continent and across difference for collective liberation.
Gracias XITO, ARE, Liberated Ethnic Studies, Escuelitas, and Teaching for Change for all of the support to help us grow in our power!
