My season of denial has begun! 🌸
Fireweed is a clock of sorts here in Alaska. And once it starts to bloom, summer’s clock starts ticking.
They say once the blooms reach the top, it’s only six weeks til winter. “When fireweed turns to cotton, summer will soon be forgotten”
So while I love this beautiful flower, I’m in no rush to see her bloom.

It Should be stated that though there is one fireweed somewhere in the state that is accurate the rest are decoys.

I’ve been talking to the beautiful fireweed outside my bedroom window- reminding them that they are absolutely gorgeous but they don’t need to rush. ‘Slow your roll, beautifuls!’

Oh my god! I've never heard of this! We're your neighbours to the east (NWT) and our fireweed started blooming a couple weeks ago 😍 it's so beautiful 💕

Got Fireweed everywhere here on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. I know the lore, I am excited for the heat to GTFO!

I was in Bethel last summer and everyone was freaking out when the fireweed started to bloom in May. Needless to say winter was in full swing early October.
