Artist spotlight: Kristiana Chan θη€Όζ©πΊ
In "Countermyths: Fifty-Sixth Annual UC Berkeley MFA Exhibition," Kristiana Chan θη€Όζ© (@kristi_chan) presents "Hollowed Ground," a series of sculptures combining ceramic, rebar, concrete, and oyster shells. Expanding beyond the scale of her previous work, Chan embraces the challenge of creating forms larger than her own body in an exploration of growth, material, and making at a new scale.
Reflecting on her MFA experience, Chan credits the support of her artistic community for helping her take creative risks. Her advice to emerging artists: lean into what excites you, stay curious, and find the people who will support your practice.
