EARLYBIRD $30 TIX LIVE NOW WHILE IT LASTS - link in my bio xoxo
For the Mokos is a night of bass, beats and community - raising money to get Tamatha Paul over the line in Wellington North, and to help change the government.
This one’s for the mokos: for the babies not yet born, the kids growing up in a city and a country we still have a chance to get right. Come dance for a future where our grandkids inherit warm homes, a liveable climate, decent public transport, and a government that actually looks after people instead of grinding them down.
Three wicked acts, all funds going straight to the campaign.
Mokotron · Bad Taste · Nam Chucks
MASSIVE thank you to the talented
@lilypariswest for the sick artwork and poster 😍😍😍😍😍
The Lineup
MOKOTRON Tiopira McDowell (Ngāti Hine) makes electronic music as Mokotron - taonga pūoro, heavyweight breaks and sub-bass fused with te reo Māori vocals into something that hits like nothing else in Aotearoa. His 2024 debut album WAEREA won the 2025 Taite Music Prize and Best Electronic Artist (Te Manu Taki Tāhiko o te Tau) at the Aotearoa Music Awards, and was named Rolling Stone’s second-best NZ album of the year. By day, he’s a senior lecturer in Māori and Pacific Studies at the University of Auckland; by night, his shows have been known to bring whole rooms to the edge of tears. Expect a set built to move both body and wairua.
BAD TASTE The Wellington duo of turntable wizard Alphabethead and lyricist Young Gho$t, Bad Taste have spent the last few years carving out their own corner of psychedelic, cathartic hip-hop. Two albums deep and known around Pōneke for shows that go off - don’t miss your chance to get amongst it on a Bad Taste d-floor.
NAM CHUCKS DJ, selector, MC and radio host, Nam Chucks brings deep soundsystem culture to every set - roots, reggae, dub, dubstep, jungle and bass in all its forms, delivered with the kind of care and conscious energy that gets a whole dancefloor moving together. A fixture of Wellington’s bass and soundsystem scene, repping for wāhine on the decks.
