Looking back on June, and that includes hosting a brilliant @harleyfoxxentertainment Juneteenth Black Burlesque Showcase at @capregionartscenter ✊🏾 Performing in kinship comes with so much ease, abandon, consciousness and joy is a true gift.
It's one thing to carry Blackness into every house I enter, and another for Blackness to be the house itself.
It didn't matter that I was in Providence the night before. It didn't matter that I was with Bridgeport Pride that morning, to then arrive in Troy, NY, that night. There was no way I wouldn't answer this call for this show and this cast of friends old and new.
Always thankful to come home. And yes, I am carrying note cards with the Juneteenth flag on the back.
