TNHT Staff: @fashionswarrior ________ Neighbors, Chick-fil-A’s CEO was asked a pretty straightforward question about LGBTQ+ rights, but instead of giving a direct answer, he kept bringing the conversation back to chicken sandwiches and customer service! ________ During an October 14 interview on NBC’s TODAY show, CEO Andrew Cathy was questioned about the company’s position on equal rights, years after Chick-fil-A faced backlash over its donations to organizations accused of opposing LGBTQ+ rights. “We’re focused on hospitality, serving great-tasting food, and great service,” Cathy responded. When asked what he would say to protesters, Cathy invited them to visit the restaurant, saying, “Everybody that will be willing to walk in the door, they’ll see that they’re welcome to come eat with us.” ________ The controversy goes back to 2012, when Cathy’s father, former CEO Dan Cathy, publicly opposed same-sex marriage, sparking nationwide protests and calls for boycotts. Chick-fil-A eventually changed its charitable giving strategy in 2019, shifting its focus to education, homelessness and hunger.
