An absolute blue gem in the Eastern Sierra!!
💙 This is an azure-blue jewel set in a crown of jagged gray rock, ringed by massive peaks.
💦 What makes it special is exactly that deep blue-turquoise color hikers keep talking about. It sits with a striking turquoise hue that it certainly isn't from the usual cause of glacial till that colors many Sierra lakes. The chalky sediment in the upper basin above the lake contributes to the water being so intensely blue.
💙 Beyond the color. it's a genuinely wild, hard-to get to spot. It's a true hidden gem, well off the beaten path and difficult to reach, which is part of what makes it so special once you get there.
