Selecting fixtures in a diagonal is a chore. Reordering the grid by hand takes long enough that most of us don't bother.
Make a selection. Tap the tool. A quick pop-up sets the starting fixture and direction.

1/1 grid (so all fixtures overlap), center selected (on a bigger grid, apply only to the selected fixtures whilst in setup)
