Swollen hands, rings don’t fit after exercise, or “sausage fingers”? This may be due to dysautonomia!

Dysautonomia can lead to blood pumping less efficiently. This can happen for a variety of reasons but one reason within the hypermobile community is due to veins that are “too stretchy”

Add in extra blood pumping with exercise and gravity and you may have significant swelling and heaviness of the hands.

Hands overhead with hands pumping can help blood pump more efficiently back to your heart. Compression is another strategy that can help with blood pooling in hands or feet.

I’ve been diagnosed with hypermobility and told it was the source of my joint pain and osteoarthritis. But when I do cardio or reps my feet, hands, and nose go numb. I also get itchy. Should I talk to a dr about it? Is this “normal” for someone with hypermobility?

Omg - I do this with my hands all the time and never really thought about the fact that I was doing it.

You know when cops grab on their vest? Well I let My palms rest in My chest trapped by the sports bra. It's like an assisted t rex. Really comfy for the treadmill

Apparently there are some people that make fun of others who put their hands on the treadmill rails but I do it 1) for stability (EDS clumsiness) and 2) cuz my blood pools into my hands like no tomorrow 😮‍💨

Wait. It isn't normal for hands to swell during exercise? (I'm being serious)

Omg I have no idea how she’s doing that ski machine if she has dysautonomia (well if she has POTS specifically). I tried it once and immediately regretted it. 😵

hiking is a nightmare because the altitude always makes the swelling so much worse! 😂 and then they get itchy, so many feelings all at the same time. everyone looks at me like I'm insane when I tell them what's happening too
