I recently visited Paris to see the joyful work of one of my all-time favourites, the marvellous Alexander Calder @alexandercalder_ , currently being exhibited at the incredible Frank Gehry-designed Fondation Louis Vuitton. A double whammy of joy.
It is the most cohesive, full, expansive and brilliant Calder exhibition I have ever seen. From the magnificent circus film to the mobiles, sculptures and paintings, each piece brought its own beautiful sense of wit, movement and wonder.
His jewellery, often made for his wife’s birthdays and celebrations, completely captured my heart. A true romantic.
For me, it also brought back wonderful memories of Mikey, my late husband and Peagreen partner, who, like Calder, could turn everyday objects into extraordinarily beautiful things.
The exhibition is open at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, @lvmh Paris until August 16th.

Beautifully said. Calder has always had a special place in my heart too. His work never fails to bring a bit of joy 🫶🏻
