Nine to five buses! The Sameer Project stopped four free buses in Gaza due to lack of funds and now we only run five. We are hoping with your support that we can keep running the five buses as well.

The Sameer Project provides this service for people to have more mobility and go to work or to hospitals. Transport is a HUGE issue in Gaza and this is why this initiative is probably a favorite for people.

We truly don’t want to stop this service but we need your help to maintain it. Please give to our General Fund today.

Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine and while distributing water, our team found this young man singing a famous song by Fairouz about Jerusalem. The Gaza Strip has been under siege since 2007 meaning that most of these young Palestinians never got to see the Aqsa mosque. As Palestinians in Gaza, our yearning for Jerusalem is in the songs we sing, and the words we use when we talk about liberation. Praying side by side with Muslims from all over the world in peace is a dream now but we know that this day will be a reality. Gaza is paying a high price for liberation with our third year in genocide. Mutual aids decreased their efforts due to lack of funds and Gaza is nowhere to be seen on the media. Right now, chicken is actually more expensive than meat in Gaza! Making this essential protein a luxury for most of the population that cannot afford it, while it used to be a daily staple in Ghazzawi cooking. On January 2, The Sameer Project distributed half chickens and rice to Al-Safaa Camp in Khan Younis. Each meal without labor cost $7.50 and for all 200 meals a total of $1,712 after 11% banking fees and 26% cash withdrawal commission for labor. During one of our medical days in Lidd Camp, Deir El Balah, a man collapsed while The Sameer Project medical team was there. The team immediately checked his vitals and called an ambulance. The reason we are showing you this video is for you to understand the extremity of the medical situation in Gaza. Palestinians in Gaza are malnourished, dehydrated, exhausted and have been surviving a genocide for over two years. On top of all this, 37 major non-profits, many of which are medical, will close at the end of February. No words can emphasize the importance of medical care including the medical days done in underserved camps. The Sameer Project is looking to expand our medical work but our funds won’t allow us. During a bead activity that The Sameer Project was doing with girls in the Mahaba Camp, one of the girls wanted to recite a poem. The poem as you can see is love of the land, yearning for freedom and the sacrifice of its people. Every poem, every song, every rhym and every essay written by Palestinian kids in Gaza connects to their experience living under occupation. These weren’t learned in the last two years, we all grew up learning these songs and poems. Do you know any poems about Palestine? Ramadan is a time of family, community, worship & love. Muslims have memories from a young age about Ramadan and the traditions of the holy month. In Gaza, when Palestinians think of Ramadan, we think of Al Zawiya market with the colorful stalls and the strong smell of herbs. The Great Omari mosque, where people pray Taraweeh and we do madeeh (Islamic poetry & songs). The smell of fatteh and maftool coming out of the windows and the taste of qatayef on a full stomach. The struggle to open our eyes when the musahrati’s chants and drumming before sunrise. Ramadan in Gaza has always been special with the lanterns glowing and big smiles around the table during sunset. This is the family of one of the ten kids who froze to deaths. The dad tried to wake Shatha, his eight year old daughter up to find her dead 💔 The military occupation is killing Palestinians in Gaza in so many different ways. There is no way we could console this family from their unfathomable loss but the least we could do is provide the rest of their kids with some warmth.
