Let’s talk about game development…
and UNDERSTANDING SCOPE 👁️👁️

Your dream game project doesn’t have to be your first game. One of the biggest mistakes for newer game developers is starting with a project that’s too big to finish. By keeping your game scope realistic and focusing on small, meaningful goals, you’ll avoid burnout, make every design decision matter, and actually ship a project. Small games build the skills you need to create your dream game later. 🤙🏻

Great words. It took me years of failed project after failed project with each one having the same issue, my scope would start big and only get bigger; usually mod support and multiplayer aspersions. Only now 10 years later do I finally feel like I have a solid plan, helped by switching to a more “restrictive” engine: MZ, so that I can stay focused.

Scope is something you master over time. We all have grand ideas, but at some point the old adage "done is better than perfect" takes over. Whether it's it's an album, a movie, or a videogame - having a finished product is more valuable towards your growth than constant iteration of the same idea. Great content!
