Showing Deluge at game conventions and indie game showcases has been one of the best ways to improve my game. Watching real players experience your game and listening to their feedback helps uncover issues and opportunities you might never notice on your own.

Public playtesting doesn’t just make your game better — it also helps you grow as a developer! It’s important to bring the best build you can to an event, but don’t overlook the valuable lessons you’ll learn from every player who picks up the controller.

What’s the best game engine? The one that helps you finish your game.

Whether it’s RPG Maker MZ, Godot, Unity, Unreal Engine, or another game dev software, the right engine is the one that matches your goals. You don’t need to be a programmer to be a game developer. If you’re a storyteller, or an artist, there too exist game engines that let you bring your ideas to life. Don’t let coding stop you from creating your next banger. Use tools that help you create, help you learn, and can push you into a finished project.

Let’s talk about game development…
and UNDERSTANDING SCOPE 👁️👁️

Your dream game project doesn’t have to be your first game. One of the biggest mistakes for newer game developers is starting with a project that’s too big to finish. By keeping your game scope realistic and focusing on small, meaningful goals, you’ll avoid burnout, make every design decision matter, and actually ship a project. Small games build the skills you need to create your dream game later. 🤙🏻
