It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since you left us. It still feels like yesterday when we had to let you go.

I still feel you with me every single day. I know you weren’t meant for this world, and I know you’re looking down on me, giving me the strength to keep going.

For some reason, I woke up yesterday convinced it was August 1st. I spent the whole morning thinking about you, celebrating you, and getting myself ready for what I knew would be a tough day. Then I realized it was actually the wrong day but it made me realize it’s never really just August 1st. I miss you every day, every week, every month, and sometimes every single minute.

I took your board out for a surf today, and I swear it rides better every time. I’ve probably had 50 plus boards over the past 10 years, and I’ve even had a replica made but I still haven’t found one that rides as good as yours. I guess some things just can’t be replaced.

I’m so grateful for the time we had together. I just wish we had been better to each other and to ourselves back then. I know we were both fighting our own battles. I know I’ll see you again someday.

We love you, Sausage. We miss you every day.
