Mohalla No. 404

This dress was created for Croatian singer and performer Silvija, who performed at a Ukrainian Independence Day celebration at @tpm.del , Saket. The evening brought together multicultural artists and musicians through music and performance, creating the context for a garment that could carry Ukrainian craft into that setting.
The embroidery motifs used in the dress were originally developed during my Live Industry Project, in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine @ua.emb.india in India, where I explored Ukrainian craft, symbolism and visual language.
For this individual project, I developed those motifs further into a contemporary performance garment specifically for Silvija. Rather than recreating traditional Ukrainian dress, I wanted to reinterpret elements of its textile heritage through silhouette, material and hand embroidery.
