STANLAND
Narnia meets Ocean City, Maryland.
A year ago, the
@thesonarnetwork put out a five-part comedy series I co-wrote with
@sgwilson_earth1 featuring a cast of incredible comedic talent, including
@bibbymoynihan,
@rheaseehorn,
@timmysharp, Steve Little,
@jon_hamm @john_waters_divine_trash_page,
@imlaurenadams, Kevin Brown (the voice of the Orioles) and many others, including the “Energy Vampire” from “What We Do in the Shadows,” Mark Proksch.
StanLand is about a formerly magical fantasy land called Zyngia, now overrun with fast food restaurants, vape shops, big box stores, and other miracles of the modern age. In charge of it all is a hedge fund ruled by a ruthless executive (played by Jon Hamm) and his assistant, Winky (played by John Waters). The national anthem is Aerosmith’s “Love in an Elevator.”
Since the script was written a few years ago, it seems that Earth, much like Zyngia, has become nothing more than a giant hedge fund conglomerate in which nothing else matters, except for producing riches for the very few. Sad. All of it.
Stanland went on to be nominated for Best Comedy Narrative at the Tribeca 2025 festival; nominated for a 2025 Ambie award for Best Fiction Podcast; and winning a Gold in Scripted Fiction at the 2025 Signal Awards.
It’s now being pitched to Hollywood as an animated TV show.
In a few months, Sonar will be releasing a brand-new five-part audio series that I wrote to star Chris Elliott and
@bridey_elliott about a former white rap star from the early 1990s who decides to give it another go with his daughter acting as his manager. This, too, will star an all-star cast of comedians and actors, many from StanLand. It’s called “The Return of Sno Topp.”
In the meantime, if you haven’t yet heard Stanland, would you give it a listen? It’s free! I think you’ll like it.
And if you don’t? Well ... it’s free …
Love
Mike
