From April 2027, pubs, clubs and live-music venues will receive a 20% reduction in business rates and, @andy.burnham, we noticed bookshops were excluded...

Rising business rates make it harder for independent bookshops like Kemps to grow, thrive, and continue doing what we love: bringing brilliant books, ideas, and people together. We’re a small & mighty team, and we believe indies are a vital part of our vibrant local communities - both of which are filled with so many wonderful small businesses! Of course we're backing the @booksellersassociation's call for targeted business rates relief for bookshops. Because it's kinda Kemps to advocate for indie bookshops. 💙

Love book shops. They are the making of any High Street. They shouldn’t be paying high business rates, it’s just not right. 🌷🌷

100% back this. Utter madness how small independent businesses have been hit by sky high business rates. Bookshops form a vital role in our high streets, which have been under huge threat from billionaire online stores. If the PM is serious about saving our high streets he needs to cut business rates for small to medium businesses.
