W. Max Thomason

Apparently, in what can only be described as a questionable turn of events, I have agreed to stand in front of a room full of people and give my first-ever artist talk next Saturday.

I do not particularly enjoy public speaking. I am even less comfortable talking about myself. I’ve spent a good portion of my life believing that if I could fully explain a painting in words, I had probably made it too obvious. I’d rather leave you alone with the imagery and see what story the painting creates for you.

So naturally, this seemed like a good idea.

I’ll be at Pulse Gallery Saturday, August 29th, at 11:00 AM, talking about the work, where it comes from, how the stories develop, and probably a few things I have never been asked to explain out loud before.

I genuinely have no idea what this is going to be like, which may actually make it worth attending.

I hope to see you there.
