Apparently, in what can only be described as a questionable turn of events, I have agreed to stand in front of a room full of people and give my first-ever artist talk tomorrow.

I do not particularly enjoy public speaking. I am even less comfortable talking about myself. I’ve spent a good portion of my life believing that if I could fully explain a painting in words, I had probably made it too obvious. I’d rather leave you alone with the imagery and see what story the painting creates for you.

So naturally, this seemed like a good idea.

I’ll be at Pulse Gallery tomorrow, Saturday, August 29th, at 11:00 AM, talking about the work, where it comes from, how the stories develop, and probably a few things I have never been asked to explain out loud before.

I genuinely have no idea what this is going to be like, which may actually make it worth attending.

I hope to see you there.

Please join us next Saturday, August 29th at 11am at @pulsevisualart for a conversation with artist @wmaxthomason on his currently solo exhibition, Falling Away from Prime.

We will explore in depth his background, inspiration, process, and the themes of his work. Ask questions, get to know his work, and getting a behind the scenes look at what goes into his practice.

Coffee and light snacks will be provided.
