Set within an existing hotel building, the project is a retrofit that begins by opening up the facade to bring more light into the space. The new edge accommodates seating, retail and display within a simple partition.
A 50 × 50 mm GI tube frame forms the structure of the partition, creating a simple grid within which the different elements are placed.
WindowScape became a reference point for us while working on this edge, particularly its ideas of the “seating window” and “working window”.

Approaching the window through the lens of “behavior” directs our attention to the phenomena adjacent to it, the light and wind entering through the glass, the heat accumulating there, the person gazing outside while basking in that warmth, the pedestrian on the street, and the greenery spreading across the garden. It situates the window within the web of relationships connecting these elements.
