Our next student spotlight is Liv Ritacco!
Liv is a fourth-year student majoring in Biology and Ecology, who was part of the inaugural Field Research and Conservation Maymester. Liv shares: “The class started like any other class: attending lectures, taking notes, and learning new material, but during the final week, it became something truly special.”
Students spent the first two weeks of the course in Athens learning about the diverse ecosystems of Key Largo, FL and designing research projects. During the final week of the course, students travelled to beautiful Key Largo, FL with Dr. William Norfolk for an 8-day field season to complete their planned research project.
Liv recollects: “Without a doubt, my favorite part of the experience was the snorkeling. Learning about marine ecosystems in a classroom is fascinating, but seeing them firsthand is something entirely different.”
