A new way to watch WTF, People! The Norm Macdonald episode is up on my YouTube in honor of Norm’s birthday and the 15th anniversary of the episode. Watch, listen, put it on in the background. Link in bio. More to come!

The Israeli occupation is violently driving Palestinians from their own land while the world stands by. This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a calculated campaign of ethnic cleansing, carried out with impunity as the international community fails to stop it.

Note: These propaganda photographs were meant to show the beauty and aesthetics of the time. This post is meant to show exactly that. This is propaganda history, an important factor of the history of the Third Reich. The last photograph explains what it eventually led to.

These photographs document the Landjahr, a year-long rural labor and training program for German adolescents that expanded after 1934 under the National Socialist government. Boys and girls were placed in camps and on farms across the Reich, where they performed agricultural work, lived in organized groups, and received instruction meant to strengthen ties to the countryside and to the collective “Volk.”
The images show tent encampments, field labor, handicrafts, outdoor lectures, music, physical drills, and flag ceremonies, accompanied by slogans stressing community over the individual, agrarian identity, pre-military training, and ancestor commemoration. The program was linked to the Hitler Youth, the Bund Deutscher Mädel, and the later Reichsarbeitsdienst. The photographs formed part of the official visual propaganda of the German Reich in the 1930s and early 1940s.
