The House of Commons has accepted my parliamentary petition for a public inquiry into the pathologisation of abuse victims following the public apology from The Royal College of Psychiatry. Launch an inquiry into the psychiatric care and diagnoses of child abuse victims Created by Dr Jessica Taylor Closes on 14 April 2027 In light of the official apology from the Royal College of Psychiatry, we request that the Government launch an inquiry to explore the treatment of victims of child abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse who may have been incorrectly pathologised, framed as mentally ill, and wrongly diagnosed. In August 2026, The Royal College of Psychiatrists published an official apology to victims of abuse, admitting that UK psychiatrists had diagnosed victims, medicated them, and admitting that there is no significant evidence base for “false memory syndrome”. Thousands of UK victims of abuse have had their credibility and disclosures harmed by these false diagnoses, including in criminal court, family court, mental health services, and NHS records. We now need an inquiry to establish the scale of this issue and impact. Sign, share, tell everyone. Send it everywhere. We need as many signatures as possible to force a parliamentary debate about the appalling use ‘false memory syndrome’ and other false psychiatric labels to silence victims of abuse.
