Join us on October 6 as we welcome the Friends of Old Westbury Gardens
@friendsofowg, celebrated international photographer Dylan Thomas
@dylan_location, and award-winning editor and writer Clive Aslet
@cliveaslet for an engaging conversation about the creative process behind their newest publication, Old Westbury Gardens: Days of Grace (@triglyphbooks, 2026).
Moderated by noted interior designer Thammanoune Kannalikham
@kannalikham_designs, the discussion will explore the stories, research, and visual imagination that shaped this richly illustrated tribute to one of Long Island’s most beloved estates.
Old Westbury Gardens: Days of Grace brings the house and its history vividly to life through archival images and lush contemporary photography. The book honors the legacy of the estate Jay Phipps built to woo his English love, Dita Grace, after promising to recreate the world of elegance, gardens, and dogs she had known in Sussex. She said “Yes”—and the rest is Old Westbury Gardens.

1. A drive sweeps to the entrance front. To maintain the drama, the full extent is partially hidden by
shrubs and trees.
2. Roses, lupins, and peonies crowd this border in the Walled Garden. Beyond the fountain is the
East Gate.
3. The South Allée in April. The linden trees come into leaf and dogwood blooms above the neatly
trimmed forms of the hemlock hedges.
