Jonas Fredwall Karlsson knows how to see what others might overlook. As a portrait photographer, he has spent his career capturing the details that reveal the character of presidents, celebrities, athletes and other cultural figures. Nearly a decade ago, he brought that same discerning eye to an 1882 Gothic Victorian in Sag Harbor — not to photograph it, but to restore it.
Known for his work in Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ and National Geographic, as well as campaigns for brands including Rolex and Apple, Karlsson is accustomed to looking closely at light, proportion and detail. Those same instincts would guide his nearly decade-long stewardship of the 144-year-old home.
