This week’s issue of Dan’s Papers features the work of Patricia Feiler, whose cover painting captures the movement and beauty of sailing on the East End.

Feiler, a Mattituck resident, was inspired by a day aboard the Committee Boat during a race at the Westhampton Yacht Squadron. Fascinated by the elegant lines of the boats, sailors, sparkling water and salt air, Feiler brought the experience to life in her painting. Sailing imagery has long appeared in her work, influenced by growing up along a creek in Center Moriches surrounded by boats and the bay.

Feiler is also the featured artist this month at the Center Moriches Library, where 20 of her pieces are on display through October.

East Hampton is traveling back to the Revolutionary era for a new History Festival at Mulford Farm.

On October 17, the East Hampton Historical Society will commemorate America’s 250th birthday with historical reenactors, colonial demonstrations, traditional crafts, live music, children’s activities and more. The free festival will give visitors a look at Revolutionary-era life while exploring the history of East Hampton and Mulford Farm.

The returning Dan’s Papers cover artist shares the story behind his colorful Wild Monk Parakeet cover, his lifelong love of birds and the development of his signature style. From psychedelic ’60s art and The Beatles to flowers, sneakers and everyday meals, Stanko turns the things around him into bold, colorful paintings.

He also reflects on some of his proudest artistic accomplishments and looks ahead to his third solo show at The Christensen Gallery in Babylon, opening November 13.

From the battlefields of Afghanistan to Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail, Bob Pennington is bringing his story to Riverhead.

One of the first 12 U.S. Special Operations soldiers to deploy into Afghanistan after 9/11, Pennington will appear at The Suffolk on October 15 for “Whiskey and War Stories.” The live Q&A will explore the mission that inspired 12 Strong, how his team earned the name “Horse Soldiers” and their later creation of Horse Soldier Bourbon.

The evening also includes a three-bourbon tasting, with part of the proceeds benefiting Warrior Ranch in Calverton.

🌸 When a woman creates beauty with flowers, you can see that same artistry in the way she dresses.

At the @raul_penaranda fashion show, I met an incredibly talented floral designer whose personal style is just as beautiful, creative, and distinctive as her work.

As the owner of @seasonsofloveflowers a floral design business in New Jersey, she has an extraordinary eye for beauty. But what really caught my attention was the way she translates that creativity into her everyday wardrobe.

Her look is a masterclass in mixing luxury designer fashion with unexpected, personal touches. A @dior bag, @revolve shorts, her dad’s button-down shirt, a scarf, and @chanelofficial shoes. Union Burger Bar has a new name and a new home in Southampton.

Now called simply Union, the restaurant has moved into the Southampton Social Club at 256 Elm Street, bringing the two venues together under one roof. Union will operate year-round with an expanded menu, while live music, DJs, theme nights, trivia and other entertainment will become a major part of the experience.

The Southampton Social Club name isn’t going away, with its nightlife experience set to remain part of the property during peak season.

This week’s issue of Dan’s Papers features the work of returning cover artist Mike Stanko, whose colorful painting was inspired by the Wild Monk Parakeets that have made their home on Long Island.

According to local legend, the South American birds escaped from a damaged crate at JFK Airport in the 1960s before building nests in Brooklyn and Queens and eventually making their way east to Stanko’s hometown of Valley Stream. Their bright colors are a natural fit for Stanko, whose signature style combines bold outlines and vibrant color inspired by everything from the psychedelic 1960s to everyday life.
