MATTEO IACHINO ๐ฎ๐น โข WINNER โข MENโS FOIL SLALOM โข CITROรN WINDSURF WORLD CUP 2026
Matteo Iachino claims his fourth Sylt title, adding to 2015, 2016 and โ18. Carrying his Fuerte form in Slalom X onto the foil, the Italian posted two bullets, four seconds, a third and a sixth to pip Fabian Wolf to victory. He heads into Japan in command as he bids for a sixth world title.
Wolf will be gutted to miss out, but should reflect proudly on his first podium performance. After glimpses of his capabilities in 2025, the German took a marked step up, winning three eliminations and finishing outside the top four just once, unfortunately in the deciding race, but he remains firmly in world title contention.
Amado Vrieswijk joined Iachino as the only sailor in every Winnersโ Final, winning two of the opening four eliminations. But small mistakes cost him this week and heโll likely need to win in Japan to take the title.
Pierre Mortefon missed the podium in fourth but won the last elimination after an epic battle with teammate Vrieswijk. John Soukos completed the top five with a best career result to date.
Bruno Martini recovered from 18th after day one to finish sixth, while Benoit Merceur took a career-best seventh on the foil.
