SAVR Run CIC | Mark Spence

This one feels like a bit of a full-circle moment.

After another incredible week for the @mndassoc community, and with Sir Kevin Sinfield once again reminding us what friendship, determination and doing something for others can look like, this feels like a really special time to share some news of our own.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Lindsey Burrow @rob7lindsey is joining SAVR Run CIC as an Ambassador.

And if I’m honest, this one makes me slightly emotional.

I genuinely don’t know whether @savvy_park_runrz would exist today had Rob not been diagnosed with MND and had Kev not decided to put his trainers on and do something about it.

For some reason, their story just connected with me. Maybe it was the sport, being part of a team playing rugby as a kid, or simply seeing someone decide to do something for someone else!

I can be somebody who thinks about things for too long. But with this, I didn’t. I just wanted to do my bit.

Somewhere along the way, running became community, community became friendships, and that helped shape what we’re now building through SAVR Run CIC.

I first met Lindsey at my first Great North Run. Since then, we’ve become really good friends — to the point where I now get completely random messages like:

“Which socks do you think I should run in today?” 😂

or

“Can I borrow your hydration vest?”

Usually at the very last minute 😂

We laugh. We talk running. We talk life. And sometimes we just talk absolute rubbish.

So when we started talking about SAVR Run CIC, having Lindsey involved just felt right.

What we’re building is about much more than running. It’s about people, community, movement, wellbeing, opportunity and using sport to bring people together.

When I look back at the journey that brought me here, Rob, Lindsey and Kev are woven into it in a way I could never have imagined.

So yes, this one is personal.

With Jo @glowbefore50 joining us as a Director too, the team is starting to take shape.

I genuinely can’t wait to see where this goes.
