Last night, we held Create for the Children of Congo in partnership with @allaccessarts_ and @midnightbooksla ❤️🇨🇩
We showcased more than 150 pieces of artwork created by children across Eastern Congo, creating a space for their voices, stories, dreams, and experiences to be seen and heard through their art.
Throughout the evening, we came together to create watercolor paintings, cards, letters, and messages of love for children in Congo while raising awareness about the mass human rights violations occurring across the region, as well as the ongoing impacts of imperialism, oppression, exploitation, and violence.
Thank you so much to @allaccessarts_ @penelopethepowerfulpoet for organizing such a beautiful and powerful exhibition and for allowing these children’s voices and artwork to reach our community here in Los Angeles. Thank you to our wonderful volunteer and photographer @leeazurite who helped organize and run this event so beautifully! Thank you to @midnightbooksla for sharing such a beautiful and impactful space with us, and thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday evening and filled the room with so much love, creativity, and solidarity.
Their stories deserve to be told, their dreams deserve to be seen, and their voices deserve to be heard.
