Charles White Park in Altadena is entering a new chapter after the Eaton Fire. 🌳

On October 3, the community gathered at 77 Mountain View St. to break ground on the reimagined five-acre park, where two playgrounds and restrooms were destroyed in the 2025 Eaton Fire. The ceremony included the planting of a 10,000-pound Coast Live Oak, a powerful sight for a community still rebuilding.

The $10.5 million transformation will bring a new recreation center, splash pad, lighted pickleball courts, walking paths, outdoor fitness areas, public art and an inclusive nature-based playground designed by Disney Imagineers.

Named for renowned artist and longtime Altadena resident Charles White, the park’s next chapter will continue honoring his legacy while creating a place for families, creativity and community connection. Ian White, Charles White’s son, joined local leaders and neighbors for the groundbreaking.

What are you most excited to see when Charles White Park reopens?
