4 hours agoThe owner of Mei Wah, Larry La, has an incredible personal story too. Born in Vietnam to Chinese parents, he fled with his family by boat and lived in a refugee camp in Malaysia for over a year, eventually landing in a small town in Tennessee - the only family of color in town. He wrote a memoir about his experience called Square Moon. He’s an amazing guy to have a chat with - definitely check out the Chevy Chase location and say hello! Also, we had our rehearsal dinner at the DC location shortly before it closed. Love this place!!

6 days agoMeiwah was very good the one time I had it in this location. But my go-to even though it’s not the same vibe (but same quality) is City Lights. They’re killing it now for Chinese take out. Delicious
6 days agoWent on a date with my now husband at Meiwah. I ordered some volcano drink only bc it would be lit on fire when being served. I did not realize it was a drink for like 4 people. Huge bowl w a volcano in the middle that was lit. I was hammered 😂❤️
