How do we balance the need for effective medical treatments with the ethical responsibility we have to the animals involved?

Brandon shares his perspective as both a scientist, father, and an animal lover- explaining why he believes animal testing is sometimes still necessary, even when the decisions weigh heavily on him. As a father to a 6 year old child and a devoted dog owner, he understands the emotional complexity of both sides.

We talk about the difficult decisions researchers face, the responsibility that comes with using animals in science, and why these conversations deserve more than simple answers.

The people used for experiments aren’t locked up in cold dark cages like they do to animals that are being used for experimental research. Unfortunately it’s not even close to the same at all. The tests on animals are cruel beyond imagination.

90% of animal testing does not translate to humans. That should give you doubt.

Maybe... but we don't need torture. And we don't need boutique cosmetics tested on animal s..and we dont need repeat tests for stuff we already know about. ♥️🙏🏼

I'm sorry, no.The dog has no choice in that situation for being a test animal. He was not put on this Earth to be a test.Animal humans have the choice to say no I don't think so or yeah , I'll do it , not the animals. We were put here to be stewards of the animals , not mistreat them , so keep your testing to yourself.

Thank you for having these difficult conversations. He omitted that testing on people allows consent but animals aren’t given that option. And what if the animal could make an even greater contribution to the world than being a test subject? And what if we put all that money and time and energy into other solutions for improved health for people? Don’t want to see humans suffering when we can find solutions but what if there are other solutions and it’s just about finding them? Thank you for thought provoking conversations that hopefully will lead to more breakthroughs and better health and wellbeing for people and animals!👏🎙️🐾🐾

Sorry but yeah nah from me. This is antiquated and barbaric, time to start using modern technology or start using rapists and murderers to test trial drugs.... the world is waking up to the evil thats been going on for far too long.

No. These “scientists” are sick. As a nurse of 2 decades, a mama to 7, currently dog guardian of 9 rescue dogs, including two former lab beagles, I can say my answer is ALWAYS NO. This dude must know how high the failure rate is for animal —> human trials. He’s using a child as his emotional justification. I don’t want any medication that has animals have been tortured for. I don’t care the reason. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Period.

Animal testing gives a false sense of security. Substances tested on animals that are toxic may not be in people (aspirin, penicillin etc) so can prevent an important medication getting developed and there are many many examples of substances that passed animal testing only to be toxic in people. Why can’t we focus on relevant methods and stop torturing animals?
