yooooooo this was so good. the true enemies-to-lovers i've been YEARNING for.
you want dark? you want gory? you want morally gray? this is IT.

the world was so interesting; i'm usually not too big into dystopian fantasy (let alone with all types of guns and machinery), but this was entirely my thing.

the characters and character development: top notch. the lines are so blurred you don't even know which ones you're supposed to love, and which ones you're supposed to hate. some, both at the same time. (except golla. there's only love for golla.)

the worldbuilding and magic system were really interesting as well. it was so cool to watch it all unfurl, to put the puzzle pieces together, leading up to that epic climax at the ending. i did guess one (part of a) plot twist, but i never would've guessed THIS. sheer brilliance.

i am so glad i read this, and will be so impatiently waiting for the next book!! well done, a.t. emerald, well done! 🥹
