A Little Piece of Colorado Autumn 🍂

I’m delighted to introduce my newest ink and watercolor painting, Piney River Ranch in the Fall.

In the summer of 2023, Caroline and I spent a wonderful day at Piney River Ranch, near Vail, Colorado, with dear friends visiting from New Zealand. One of our fondest memories was taking a canoe out onto Piney Lake, surrounded by the magnificent Gore Range mountains.

My daughter Amy is a professional wedding photographer and has photographed many weddings and engagements at Piney River Ranch over the years. When she heard that the Ranch's current operators would be concluding their operations at the end of the 2026 summer season, she suggested that I paint it as a memory for so many who have special memories there.

Although we visited in summer, I decided to imagine the scene in autumn, with golden aspens, snow-dusted mountain peaks and those familiar green canoes resting beside the dock.

The result is this little 10 × 8-inch painting, created in black India ink and watercolor.
