What a fun experience with my first plein air festival! If you’ve got one in your area, go for it! I’d never painted outside before and it was a fun and sometimes stressful constraint. The stressful was mostly self-imposed, wanting everything to be a masterpiece and also knowing I’m brand new to plein air 😅 Is anyone else like that? You want to be a pro at something the second you start it? I didn’t expect any ribbons, especially seeing some of the jaw-dropping art being made, but alas, best sky ribbon! I experienced the full range of human emotions this week. “Let’s do this!” “What on earth did I sign up for?” “My work is rubbish.” “I’m rubbish 😂.” Next morning, “oh wow, I can’t believe I painted that!” “Holy cow I’m a nervous.” “Don’t go in expecting a win.” Didn’t go in expecting a win. Peeks around corner at my piece on display. Internally hyperventilating because there’s a little orange ribbon next to it. Gratitude. Awe at the work around me. Excited to keep growing.

Thanks for reading! It’s been fun sharing this art journey here. Another form of creative expression and the community on here is just wonderful and supportive ❤️❤️ now back to painting the rest of my 24 mini canvases 😂😂

Oh I can’t even imagine! I did my first plein air painting session today all by myself and I was nervous. An entire plein air festival? Wow! Congratulations for taking such a big leap! No going back now! Your work is beautiful!
