One of the biggest handstand mistakes is correcting what you “SEE” without understanding what’s causing it.
Your shoulder angle closes, so you try to open it.
Your back arches, so you squeeze your abs harder.
Your hips pike, so you fight like a seesaw to stack them over your shoulders.
And then you spend the next 6 months making the same corrections over and over 😭
Here’s what you’re overlooking.
Your shoulders and hips are the symptoms. The root cause is how you’re distributing pressure through your hands.
When you’re excessively loading your fingers, that balance strategy can show up as closed shoulders and a banana back.
When you’re sitting too far towards the heels of your hands, you can end up overopening your shoulders + piking at the hips.
These are compensations your body uses to keep you balanced.
And if you’re only correcting what your handstand LOOKS like, you’re ignoring the mechanics that keep creating those positions.
The part of your body that’s out of alignment is the not part responsible for putting you there😉
