One month on and campaigners are still coming to terms with the vote by MPs against the assisted dying bill on September 11th. This meant dying people were denied choice… again.

It’s hard to reconcile with what happened, how it happened and the cruel consequences of the result, but there is one thing we absolutely will not do and that is give up.

Dying people deserve better and the public want this.

Obviously Scotland voted against before UK did. Still feel betrayed and still angry about deafening silence around promised improvement to palliative care provision. Meanwhile, many of our representatives who voted against Assisted Dying appear desperate for war, in which case they will send many to their deaths. Makes no sense.

And then when ppl take their own lives they’re called “mentally ill”. The system is mentally ill. Everyone should have the right to choose a peaceful and supported end of life no matter what. No adult should have to get permission or “approval” to have access to a peaceful way of dying.

One month on, still no answers about their palliative care plan, or how they will help those when palliative care doesn’t work.
