Now you can change your body — do you still have to love it?

From Rose: All I ever really wanted was for fat people to be respected no matter their size, and for people to stop pretending they couldn’t be loved or beautiful because of the way we view fat bodies. That’s what body positivity meant to me, and it still does. I don’t have to resist a medication designed to help bodies like mine to prove it.

(Recorded in the summer, before Rose came off GLP1s)

The latest episode is OUT TODAY and is about body positivity — what it promised, and where it has landed now these drugs exist. Out now wherever you get your pods, links in bio.

Yes 🙌 both things can exist. Love for yourself AND taking care of your health. Weight does not equal worth. 👏👏👏

This is definetely a debate that I had in my mind, and I would imagine many people have, before starting my GLP-1 journey. I thought going on medication would go against the fact that I strongly believe that no one should be judged or mistreated based on their size and that we need to love our bodies no matter what. But guess what? Two things can be true and I can take medication to improve my health AND work on my relationship with my body. This is at the core of how I work with my patients. Your body is not your worth but your health really matters 🫶🏻

The difficulty is people who are anti-fat will interpret the taking of GLP ones as the admission that one cannot be fat and healthy (untrue obvs) and that’s a very difficult line to tread. I personally took GLP ones because I kept getting denied healthcare as a result of my weight, and the anti-fat people will assume that the correlation between weight and poor health outcomes is directly a result of the weight, as opposed to medical discrimination and negligence experienced by fat people and more so fat women specifically.

@ambravernuccio sorry if I wasn't clear, I have already written the post and it is coming out soon. It wasn't inspired by this conversation but it has strengthened by resolve to post it soon!

The «perfect» body fat percentage = Where your body is able to function at it’s best, and you are happy and healthy.

I believe excess fat isnt beautiful neither healthy . It brings suffering and limitations to our life , health wise , aesthetically and physical capacity wise . It deteriorates our joints . I dont understand why it is said “fat is good, beautiful and sexy” by women to women only. When men dont say this things, dont think them , and we dont go around saying “bald heads are beautiful , shortys are beautiful, hair nostrils are sexy, fluid retention is fantastic”

You tapped into something “the former fatties” with fatphobia and the “righteous judgement “ and “anger “ against non responders on glp1 . 😢 when I watched that happening I couldn’t believe the lack of empathy and the criticism . Now that they are “new thins” and I am honestly thinking … wait until the other shoe drops 😂and you regain weight 😂 when off glp1 😂
