On Saturday our sweet boy Moose passed away and our hearts are broken. 💔🐾
Moose would’ve been 16 years old in December. We rescued him when he was almost two, and we’ll forever be grateful to Ember and Chris for bringing him into our lives.
It was absolutely love at first bite. 😂 The day we met him, he bit my hand, which eventually left me with a scar, but I knew right then that he was the one for us. Moose could be a bit aggressive with people he didn’t know, he possibly bit a hand or two and definitely a butt cheek, but once you earned his trust, he was the biggest love bug with a gremlin growl. He definitely had his own personality and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.
When Moose came into our lives Gitzie was already there. I had her since high school and she was around 11 or 12 when they met. They spent years together and Moose brought so much life to her golden years. He kept her young at heart, and her days were brighter with him by her side. 🖤
Eventually, we added little Dewey to the family. Gitzie got to meet him before she passed and Moose helped raise him. Dewey is now six, and we’re pretty sure Moose is at least partly responsible for how feisty he can be. 😂
A few years ago we added two more pups to the family. Boudin, who absolutely adored his big brother Moose, and Fiona, Moose’s sworn nemesis who secretly loved him just as much as he loved her.
Moose got to experience so much with us, from beach trips and camping to dressing up for Halloween and Christmas. He lived a long, full life surrounded by love and we’re so grateful for every memory we made together.
It’s hard to put into words just how much we’re going to miss him. Andrew and I will forever cherish our time with our sweet baby boy and it brings us comfort knowing he’s now reunited with his big sister Gitzie. 🖤
Run free baby Moose. Go find your sister. Thank you for all the years, the memories, the laughs, and even the bites. 😂 You’ll always be a part of us, and we’ll love and miss you forever. Until we meet again sweet boy. 🌈🐾🤍
