cooking is chemistry, chemistry is life. it’s been 3 years since Lessons in Chemistry premiered, and we still can’t stop thinking about the magic of Elizabeth Zott! 👩‍🔬🥘 swipe for behind-the-scenes facts and photos from @brielarson and @courtney_mcbroom ✨ @courtney_mcbroom was the food consultant behind every dish Elizabeth Zott made AND Brie’s hand double. fun story: on this day they didn’t have a spare of Brie’s costume, so wardrobe had to improvise. hence the look 😄 ✌🏼fun facts! 1️⃣ this photo is an ode to Julia Child who has a similar photo with her staff when cooking a segment with fire 2️⃣ the pink set took inspiration from ‘I Love Lucy’! Pink was used a lot back then because it read as a medium gray on black-and-white TV @courtney_mcbroom wearing the crown (roast), which @brielarson also does in the show! a fun inside joke referencing the crown roast they made for their Game of Thrones watch parties 👑 ok but the real behind-the-scenes? this prep list. every dish you saw on screen started as @courtney_mcbroom’s very detailed to-do list 📝 when we say “hand double,” THIS is what we mean. 👯‍♀️ costume, hair, the whole thing... so every close-up of chopping and stirring looked seamless 💯 hand double in action 🎬 see? can you even tell whose hands are whose? 👀 these are some pork chops that Elizabeth made for dinner one night. it’s another one of those dishes that we loved and was so beautiful, but never got any screen time. now is her time to shine!!! @brielarson named her real dog Six Thirty, after this cute pup in the show! 🐾 she tried a bunch of names, but he only ever answered to Six Thirty. can we blame him?? method rowing? 🚣‍♀️ @brielarson brought a rowing machine to set to practice whenever she had a spare moment, just like Elizabeth Zott. the vibes on set? immaculate. @brielarson set up a game table so everyone could hang and play between takes 🃏 this blackberry lattice pie showed up at a BBQ early on 🥧 fun detail: we don’t think the lattice top ever even made it into the final cut. all that work! and it always goes back to lasagna! want to learn how to make the one and only Lessons in Chemistry lasagna with @co
