NEW PRE-DRAWN - Messing around with color still but this one in black and grey is available through my venue ;) DM me if you have questions about booking.

Over the last year, I’ve been learning how to draw. This may sound alarming to some of you, thinking wait a minute, you’re an artist and you’ve indeed drawn on me - you must know how to draw.

Yes! But there are many levels to drawing and many, many dimensions to learn. When in comes to imagination and perspective - Kim Jung Gi and Sorie Kim are two incredible artists to study. And that is what I mean by draw. The ability to rotate any subject matter in the mind’s eye and capture it accurately.

Many tattoo artists, painters, etc. in general trace! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with tracing in fact I have done it here (see the video on slide 3 for what I started out with). Tracing (in my opinion) is a great way of giving yourself a good start and easy initial success.

But over the last year, I’ve found myself sketching less and less in my sketchbook, only to panic that my proportions had to be worked and reworked in order to look somewhat correct.

And then I thought - I need to put myself back into drawing lessons. I need to learn how to draw from imagination. Rotate objects, in any dimension, and have them look believable.

SO I got Sorie Kim’s Drawing Basics and Beyond out from my art book collection, opened a brand new sketchbook I got for myself for my birthday, and started in on some exercises.

Growing is slow, this will be set another year long dedication to build on my skills.

Cheers to YEAR 2 of tattooing! And turning 32! Being intentional with growth, my time, and falling back in love with the art of sketching. My pages are messy and full of notes, maybe I will share them someday or on a story, for now, it’s nice to have scribbles that are just for me.
