Hey! I’m Arianna.

I wanted to share a bit about who I am and where I come from.

I was a science teacher for 7 years and started working as a middle school science teacher after I graduated with a Masters in Science. I’m sure I wasn’t alone in choosing what I thought would be a stable and safe career. But then things got pretty stressful anyway.

I battled chronic anxiety because of my job. I was always taken advantage of (in many ways then just being under paid and over worked). Crying in my car due to burnout became the new normal. I wasn’t really living the life I thought I would. I loved teaching and had fun most days, but saying no to more and more work over the years wasn’t an option.

I started asking myself what else could I do? How could I make my hobby (selling my paintings and drawings at art markets) into a full time job without killing my absolute joy and passion for it?

I decided that living in the future and having anxiety over something that didn’t even exist yet wasn’t helpful. I trusted that I had the skills to get through anything difficult if I quit my job to pursue art. I had a damn Master’s after all, I already proved to myself I could do hard things when I passed organic chemistry!

So, I took a huge risk.

I quit teaching. I missed my kids. But my anxiety completely subsided. My panic attacks went away. I felt like I wasn’t living my life on high speed autopilot mode.

I applied to tattoo school and got in. I took night classes and tattooed on the weekends while I still taught.

Summer hit, I got my license, Ellie and DJ from Silent Earth found me and invited me to become the new apprentice.

After moving into the studio, it all felt like a dream actually became real. I kind of couldn’t believe it. How did I get here? What did I do right?

I felt like all I did was finally let myself be the version of myself who I actually was all along. And the rest fell into place.

Oh, did I mention our mascot Sue? She’s an 8 foot monstera that towers over the studio giving the space a calming jungle vibe 😎🌱🪴 Can’t wait to see you there this year!

Big thank you to RJ for being the first person to come see me after my big Germany / Switzerland break from tattooing <3 We added more contrast to this piece and I’m super happy with how it came out!

Session 1 - Just casually making Jadyn’s arm into a jungle over here with classic big monstera leaves, a peony and olives! Also… love when a coverup becomes a sleeve hahaha big fan ;)

Thank you Jadyn from being here from the start! Jadyn found me at the Portland Night Market a few years ago when becoming a tattoo artist and leaving my job as a middle school science teacher was just a dream I was working towards. And here she is getting a half sleeve from me years later! <3

Started this cherry blossom koi fish Gemini constellation piece for Paige yesterday and we’re both stoked on how it’s coming out! This is just the linework, we’ll finish the shading in November <3 Always happy to do a fun & classic koi, there’s so many different styles out there and they’re simply some of the most gorgeous fish in my opinion ✨(if you connect all the stars, it’s the Gemini constellation!)

Big thank you to Tony for trusting me with such a meaningful piece weaving many parts of your life together! I loved designing this one!

It’s been feeling great to get back into @silentearthstudios in our little tree house of a tattoo space in Portland. Fall is definitely HERE. I wasn’t ready to say bye to the summer yet but that happens to me every year so what can you do haha you think I would be okay with seasonal changes at this point in my life but no.

I did recently realize just how many customs I have to draw and design this month aaaand promptly thought it would be a long shot if I manage to get my flash updated and out there. But I’m going to try haha. Long gone are the days of doing inktober. I’ll be inking every day in October but it’ll be for your tattoos <3
