📚🤖 Teachers owe Wikipedia a massive public apology at this point.

We spent years being told Wikipedia wasn't a reliable source, only to enter a workplace where “just ask ChatGPT” is now a perfectly normal response.

At least Wikipedia had a list of sources at the bottom. Now we trust answers from AI without always checking if they're even true.

Funny how things have changed in just a few years. 😂

I mean AI literally gives you source links at the bottom of every message, and exact quotes and passages you can verify in two seconds yourself.

We also convey the point that "AI" is not a source—and if it is used, this must be disclosed and explained. Precisely because AI sometimes makes claims that are incorrect, it is all the more important to learn how to think for oneself, to differentiate, to compare, and to conduct research. But yes, this is a topic that many people—especially those in the field of education—are currently having to engage with very intensively.

"At least Wikipedia had a list of sources at the bottom" is the real point under the joke. In most teams the fix isn't banning ChatGPT, it's making "where did that come from?" a normal follow up question.

At least GPT scans all shitty sources like wiki and comes to a conclusion. Still better than an ignorant person reading the first paragraph of a wiki page and considering himself an expert.

People ask chatgpt where they can buy items, it scrubs the internet for all related links (including scam sites) and then they ask how did I end up on a scam site I asked chatgpt….💀
