This year has been incredibly hard for us. One week will be really good then the next a living hell. We don't have consistent days.

There was a week straight where Ember had an accident every single day multiple times a day, no changes in her lifestyle it just happens.

About 3 months ago or so, Ember stopped eating all together. She decided she hated her kibble and she wouldn't eat it anymore. I tried wet food. I tried freeze-dry food. I tried everything and she wouldn't eat. She'd eat 20-50% of her food.

We started getting her raw and she LOVED IT! DId really well in it for 3 months and then guess what? A couple weeks ago she decided she hated that too.

I tried wet food and adding all her favorite things and she would eat a little, 20-60% and that's it for a week. I really noticed she was weaker, having more accidents, really declining and I was genuinely worried.

Then magically, I gave her venison kibble on its own with nothing else just to try and she ate ALL OF IT! WUT?

SHE'S NOW EATING 100% of her food??? On Sunday she walked more than she has in months, she walked the entire loop (with many breaks) that our other 2 dogs walk, she has energy again (duh, cuz she's eating again), but this just shows you the ups and downs we go through.

Senior dogs are hard, it is what it is. But it's not a reason to just give up especially if they're not there yet.

She's doing better this last week and I'm so proud of her, but there's that little fear she'll decide she hates this food again and won't eat. That fear won't go away.

We're just cherishing every last minute with her. Giving her whatever she wants to eat. She wants to sleep all day? We let her. She wants to eat steak? Done!

Be kind, you never know what someone is going through.

You are the one with her everyday, so people who only see bits and pieces have no right to decide what is right for your beloved family member. I know how much you put into all of your babies and I know that when the time comes you will absolutely make the best choice for her. ❤️❤️❤️

You’ll definitely know when it’s time. We kept Wookie going when his walks turned into stroller rides. He still loved going out right up until his last days ❤️

My baby girl, 14 and a half she is battling linfoma stage V from last year and she don't wanna give up, she has so much love and life inside her little body that makes us fight with her even though she does not show signs of illness because she's a warrior. Physically she is perfect. Runs for hours, jumps plays with her toys, swims in the lake and her soul does not give up and I love her so much for that. She's currently doing her chemo treatment and we do not give up. Neither do her!!!

Sweet baby! You always have to do what's best for your pup and you'll be the one to really know since no one knows your pup like you do!

Don't listen to those people. You know your dog better than anyone, and it's truly amazing that you love your dog enough to care for her even when it gets difficult. I wish more people loved their pets like you do

My dog Daisy she was my whole life. She was a trained service dog. I miss her every day and I’m in agony every day. I didn’t wanna give up on my child. She’s the only child I’m ever gonna have. I’m sorry for what you’re going through but to say that other people make that decision because they’re giving up so easily is very unfair. And very wrong. Dogs don’t express pain like we do and I would never judge your decision. But I would never make a statement like assume that people just give up is not OK. My dog looked shockingly, similar to yours and had similar problems. Some people might give up some people, but I think for the majority of most people that’s not the case and I’m sorry that people are judging you, but you are on social media. And it isn’t right and again I’m sorry, but don’t assume that putting a dog down is always the easiest decision for people or it’s just giving up because I did everything I could when people do everything they can and each situation is different for everybody.

Ember wants to live and love. She wants to be with her family. You guys are doing an amazing job taking care of her and loving her and all your family! There is a disgusting trend of dumping senior dogs at dog parks, gas stations, woods, and shelters, and just putting them down as soon as they get "old." Love is always the answer ❤️.
