Himachal Pradesh: 5 Cases of Live-Streaming Videos Allegedly Uploaded Without Consent

The Shimla Cyber Crime Cell has reportedly received five complaints over the past two months from women who allege that their live-streaming videos were recorded without their permission and later uploaded to adult websites.

According to the complaints, one woman told police that she had earned around ₹3–4 lakh through live streaming over two to three years. She later discovered that videos from her live sessions had allegedly been shared on other websites.

The cases highlight how online content can be recorded using another device, even when an app does not offer a recording option.

Police are working to get the reported videos removed and have advised users to protect their privacy while live streaming.

If someone uploads your private video without consent or threatens to share it, preserve screenshots and messages and report the incident to the police or at cybercrime.gov.in. Helpline 1930 is primarily for reporting cyber financial fraud.
