Yalı Çapkını (The Kingfisher) is a Turkish romantic drama that combines passionate love, family conflicts, forced marriage, betrayal, and the struggle for personal freedom. Starring Afra Saraçoğlu as Seyran Şanlı, Mert Ramazan Demir as Ferit Korhan, and Çetin Tekindor as Halis Ağa, the series follows two young people brought together by an arranged marriage, whose lives become deeply intertwined in a world shaped by family expectations, hidden secrets, and complicated relationships.
Ferit Korhan is the spoiled and rebellious grandson of Halis Ağa, the powerful patriarch of one of Istanbul’s wealthy families. Known for his carefree lifestyle and womanizing ways, Ferit is forced by his grandfather to marry a suitable young woman from Gaziantep in the hope of making him more responsible. The family initially chooses Suna Şanlı, the eldest daughter of Kazım, but an unexpected decision changes everything when Ferit chooses her younger sister, Seyran, instead. Seyran is an ambitious and determined young woman who dreams of pursuing her education and building an independent future, but her family’s strict expectations threaten to destroy those dreams.
After their unexpected marriage, Seyran finds herself in the luxurious Korhan mansion, where wealth and privilege conceal deep family tensions, manipulation, and painful secrets. Although she and Ferit come from very different worlds, their relationship gradually develops into a passionate yet turbulent love story. Their feelings are repeatedly tested by Ferit’s past relationships, family interference, jealousy, and the emotional wounds they carry. As Seyran struggles to protect her independence and Ferit attempts to understand his own feelings, both must confront the consequences of their choices and the expectations imposed upon them.
